Five Trends From LFW A/W 15

LFW was the perfect city to pick to showcase the trends for A/W 2015. There were so many exciting and fun collections this year. London is usually a bit more adventurous than the other fashion weeks so you have a be pretty brave and confident (like English girls) to rock some of these. However, take some inspiration from these looks, they are completely doable if you want to tone them down or wear them true to form.

Playing With Patterns
Mixing patterns, to some, is usually a big no no. However, the key here is to mix patterns within the same color family making it less overwhelming. Take cues from House of Holland, Matthew Williamson, and Mary Katrantzou which make mixing patterns chic not clownish.

Blast From The Past
The '60s, '70s and '80s were equally represented at LFW. Check out the mod inspired collection at Daks, the hippie dresses and fringes at Burberry and the colorful & abstract J.W. Anderson looks. It's all about channeling the past for A/W 2015 according to London (and Milan - see Moschino's '90s inspired collection).

Layer It Up
Living in the north east I am very familiar with the practice of layering, during the winter it's how I survive. I love that the layered look showed up in LFW in a more elegant form. Temperley London took it very seriously. Belstaff showed how you can rock your leather jacket even in a snow storm, and Lucas Nascimento layered coats with more coats.

 More Fur, Less Problems
Fur coats (and fur in general) have been everywhere this season in nearly every collection. You can keep it tame with a more natural look a la Jean-Pierre Braganza. Rock color fur like this red coat at Felder Felder. Or go all out like this multi colored creation from Roksanda. Amazing.

Mad for Plaid
What makes you think of fall/winter more than plaid? The runways were filed with this forever favorite. Demure skirts at Vivenne Westwood Red Label, cozy coats at Topshop Unique and lastly from head to toe at Emilia Wickstead. It's the one trend that never goes out of style.

Will you be adding any of these trends to your A/W wishlist? I know I have my sights set on a massive fur coat, particularly this one from Topshop Unique. Swoon. Next up, beauty from Paris.
