Babes Support Babes

I'm pretty sure lately many of us have been feeling rather down with the state of the world. It's been stressful, upsetting, heartbreaking, and just damn exhausting reading the news and following along with everyone's stories. Since January 20th it has been harder and harder to keep a smile on my face. It doesn't help that it's winter over here in the US and that just makes it pretty difficult to work up the motivation to get out and about. I've always been the 'cheerleader' of my friend group. I'll root for everyone to succeed, to feel loved, and that they are the best at everything they do. I like to think I'm the type of person that would bend over backwards for everyone. I've been extremely fortunate that I am surrounded by such amazing, talented, strong, beautiful women and that I live in such a diverse and creative community. We're all in this together.

Now more than ever we need to stand strong and remember compassion and support will always, always win. My heart has been warmed to see groups of people coming together to support those being attacked, ostracized, and scapegoated. Seeing someone do something amazing and selfless that helps not only a few people, but many people. I've been trying my best to stay away from people I feel negative energy from and instead surround myself with people that make me happy and proud to call them my friend. I've found that no matter how hard you try to stay level headed and understanding there are always going to be people out there that refuse to have rational discussions and at that point no amount of patience will help you get through to them.

My challenge for this year is to share my friends that I am excited over what they do in this spot on the web. Babes supporting babes - bringing about positive vibes. I want to spread the love to not only my community but also to the people that I genuinely admire - showing that there are awesome people doing awesome things. First up is an amazing local clothing/accessory shop in Baltimore called Brightside Boutique. I don't think I have mentioned them before but they are one of my favorite places to pop into for either some inspiration for a wardrobe update. I will warn you.... it is very very dangerous in there I find it hard to simply "stop in" without a sneaky purchase. They have a few locations: one in Fells Point one in Federal Hill (both only carrying womenswear) and soon to be one in Hampden featuring both womens and menswear.

P.S. Those pins up there, you can get them from Brightside for $2 a piece. Support local, and a boss lady business all in one go. xx
