While We Were Young

12:30 PM

I recently took a quick day trip up to New York a few weeks ago with my friend Rosemary as a little pre-birthday (for her) celebration. There were three things she wanted to do: Get brunch at While We Were Young, go to Books Are Magic, and see the Monochrome exhibit. Since the wait for Monochrome was close to 4 hours we were only able to accomplish 2 out of 3 on this list, but it was still a great day in NY.

I was really excited to go to While We Were Young mostly because I love food, but also because I spent quite sometime browsing their instagram and I couldn't wait to see this dreamy little spot in person.

The space is TINY. We lucked out that we got there right around when it opened so we were able to get a spot at the bar quickly but it filled up fast and they do not take reservations for brunch so if you go aim to getting there around 11AM. I know my photos make it look rather empty but trust me, place was BUSY. Despite that the spot is beautiful. Incredibly bright with soft pink velvet seating and baby blue bar stools, filled with pastel flowers and plenty of marble.

It is on the pricey-er side but the food was amazing, just look at that chicken & waffles and avocado toast presentation! The drinks were fantastic, I'm not really a vodka girl but I couldn't resist their namesake cocktail While We Were Young made with vodka, vanilla bean, butterfly peaflower, sparkling wine, and topped with a rose bud. I really would love to go back for dinner to try their kobe burger and more of their cocktails.

If you're feeling spendy and want a real treat of an experience I highly recommend checking out While We Were Young.
