Little Nickel

A few months back I went to Richmond, VA for a long weekend trip. I realized that Richmond isn't THAT far of a drive, so what was I waiting for? After about 3 hours in a car I was definitely looking forward to when we could stop and grab some food. Thankfully, our first stop there was at Little Nickel. This spot was found and sent to me by my friend Lauren who ironically was researching a Richmond trip of her own. I beat her to Little Nickle by about a month and sang it's praises to her.

I love a good Tiki Bar, but it's hard to... at least in Maryland... find a Tiki Bar that serves Tiki Drinks IN Tiki Cups. I want the cups!! That's why I'm ordering a Tiki Drink!!! Little Nickel 100% delivers on both the tasty Tiki Drinks poured into fun Tiki Cups. They describe their food as "vacation food" - tropical dishes meets diner food.

I, with no hesitation, recommend Little Nickel as a must visit when in Richmond. The food was amazing with large portions - I went with the Lamb Cheesesteak that was piled high with chopped lamb and smothered in queso blanco alongside all the shoestring fries your heart could desire. For a drink I went with Saturn - gin, passionfruit, orgeat, falernum, and lemon - served in the cutest coconut ceramic mug. The decor was fun with plenty of families and solo patrons alike. It's main area can be a bit snug so get their early or expect a bit of wait during more popular hours. Also don't forget to check out the bathroom for the flamingos.

I'm already planning my next trip back, this time to sit at that ultra cool bar.
